So, since the start of the year, I’ve used and tested a number of phones, including the Samsung Fold 7, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the OnePlus 13, the Vivo X200 Ultra, and for the past month I’ve been using the Oppo Find X9 Pro. I should say as a disclaimer that I’ve purchased each and every one of these phones, and none of them have been sent to me for testing, because no one has offered.
I’ve been wanting to get back to Color OS, and that speaks volume. It is the best Android Operating System I’ve used that isn’t Google Pixel’s. The multitasking on Color OS is elite, and the way it maintains fluidity throughout what I am doing is not easy. So, when the Oppo Find X9 Pro was announced I was intrigued and a part of me wanted to wait because I know good and well that they will be releasing an Ultra version of the Oppo Find X9.
The Oppo Find X9 Pro was released October 2025 to a global market. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is one of the main competitors. The dimensions of the phone are close to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and it still remains thinner and lighter than it. Weighing 224g compared to the iPhone’s 233g and a thickness of 8.3mm is still thinner than 8.75mm. Both phones do have an aluminum frame, but I say this knowing a lot of people will agree with me, the back of the phone doesn’t have that stupid rectangle glass back that changes color on a lot of the orange color. The Oppo comes in three colors, Silk White, Velvet Red, and Titanium Charcoal I have.

The display of the Find X9 Pro is an LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, that has a brightness of 3600 nits at maximum brightness. Meaning using your phone in the sunlight isn’t an issue, and honestly I haven’t really used the flashlight on the phone, I just put the brightness on full blast whenever I’m walking into my room at night so that I don’t step on one of my kids toys and wake him up (its happened and I know I’m not the only one).
Powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 9500, and not the Snapdragon Elite Gen 5. Which may be odd considering this phone is Oppo’s flagship device at the moment, but you’d be wrong because the Mediatek Dimensity is on par if not better than the Snapdragon Elite. For starters the chipset is better than the Snapdragon Elite 8 when it comes to sustained performance, cooler operation, and it is potentially more power efficient AI. So, considering that I live in a country where temperatures reach well over 50C having a phone that can run cooler is something that speaks to me.

Something that may seem unreal is the battery capacity. 7500mAp battery, yes you heard me…7500! That’s almost 50% more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. All this because Oppo among other Chinese brands using new battery technology, Silicone Carbon Lithium-Ion, which are smaller than the typical Lithium-Ion batteries, meaning you can have bigger batteries in a smaller form. Before getting the Oppo Find X9 Pro, my daily phone was the Samsung Fold 7. Which would demolish the power out of the 4400mAp battery quickly. I would wake up with a full battery but by midday my phone would be plugged in and charging at 25W, with me waiting for the phone to recharge again. But this phone is just different. Again, I would wake up with a fully charged phone and go about my day using it profusely, taking pictures, listening to music, watching videos, messaging, video calls daily, and just using the phone HARD. At the end of the day, I would have around 30%. Even if I forget to charge my phone, I know that if I put it on the charger for just half an hour, I would have enough juice to keep the phone on for the rest of the day because of the 80W wired charging and the 50W wireless charging.

Now the main reason why I purchased the phone, the cameras. They are just "Chefs Kiss". In the front a 50MP f/ 2.0 21mm wide angle camera that shoots at a maximum 4K 60fps. While one company will use an 18MP and brag that it’s the revolutionized the selfie camera "cough apple". Oppo decided to put a camera that most companies would use as their main camera as the phone’s selfie camera. When it comes to the main cameras on the back Oppo went with a tri-camera selection. The main camera of the three cameras is a 50MP f/ 1.5 23mm. The telephoto camera is a 200MP f/ 2.1 70mm camera with 3x optical zoom. Finally, to complete the tri-camera setup there is another 50MP f/ 2.0 15mm ultra-wide camera. All four cameras are tuned and set up by the world renowned Hassleblad, giving the phone their Color Calibration and the use of filters that are taken on the phone to look like their film cameras. On top of that the phone has Laser Autofocus and a color spectrum sensor. When it comes to the back cameras videography capabilities they don’t slouch either. They shoot 4K 120fps Dolby Vision.
What is found in the box, other than phone is something that I wish a lot of other companies would do. Inside the box you will find the typical documentation, the sim ejector and charging cable. Unlike other companies, you will also find a silicone case that is the same color as the phone, and an actual charging brick (I know right). There is another version of the Oppo Find X9 Pro box that you can get that comes with the Photography kit, which includes a lanyard, a case, and a grip for the phone so you can hold the phone like a camera, and a zoom lens, similar to the Vivo X200 Ultra I reviewed.
So, would I recommend this phone? In a heartbeat! If you’re coming from an iPhone, ColorOS has taken a lot of visual cues from the iPhone. The cameras on the phone are truly amazing, especially when you can use AI to enhance your images in case you cropped too much. If you got the photography kit, then the cameras on this phone are even better. The battery life on the phone is phenomenal! So far, I cannot find anything wrong with the phone at all. Its main competitors as of right now are the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the new Vivo X300 Pro.
