The love of sports watches with an integrated braceleted has taken the market by storm and has given us as watch enthusiast numerous choices in different budgets! Which is NOT a bad thing, not a bad thing at all.

The hype that hasn’t died out at all but has exponentially grown in the past decades. Especially when it comes to steel sports watches with a blue dial. Nivada Grenchen had a watch like that, but it was discontinued way before I was even born, they decided to go through their archives to 1977 and reissued this beauty.

The Nivada Grenchen F77 is an almost carbon copy of the original issue. 37mm case with a lug to lug of 45mm, sitting somewhat larger on the wrist due to the way the lugs start from the case. Don’t get me wrong the fact that the thickness of the watch is 12.6mm it makes it a lot more bearable. The watch itself gives off a mix of the IWC Ingeniur and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, very Gerald Genta-esque. Eight screws on the bezel is the AP look in it but the way the case looks is where the IWC looks kicks in

What made me pull the trigger was more than just the 37mm case, but the dial itself is gorgeous. With a carbon woven pattern dial in three different colors (Black, Blue, Burnt Brown). The typical dial color for a sports steel watch are possible choices, but the color you don’t see very often on a steel sports watch is the choice I made, it fades from the dark brown “Habanos Tobacco” color to a beige “Café Latte” color. Applied indexes with lume that isn’t as powerful I would appreciate.

F77 comes in two different variants, one with a no-date function and one with a date function, both are powered by the same movement automatic SOPROD P024, with a power reserve of 38 hours, and a 100m water resistance.
