Ever since I got into watches and had adult money to make my own financial mistakes, I always had my eye on the Breitling Aerospace. Every time I got the chance to pull the trigger on one, I found myself not making the purchase and buying something else.

When I couldn’t find any more links for my 25-year-old Omega Seamaster and refused to pay for links a good friend of mine had the Aerospace just sitting there in his shop. So, I hopped in my truck and headed over to see if he would be willing for a trade, and he actually was. Thus, almost ten-year itch I had been subdued.

Let’s talk about this true tool watch, a watch that can basically do it all. This watch is used by numerous Air Squadrons, to the point that limited editions that pay respect to the heritage to its fighter jet pilots and their squadrons, including the RAF Gulf War Combat Airwings, the Royal Navy Airforce, the F16 Falcon Pilots, and many others.

With a brushed titanium case coming in at 42mm with a thickness of 10.4mm. Housing the Breitling’s COSC Certified ETA based thermocompensated multifunction movement, the Breitling 79, powered by a superquartz. When I say multifunction, I mean multifunction this watch’s functions are

·       Chronograph

·       Minute Repeater

·       Countdown timer

·       GMT/Time zone Function

·       Perpetual Calendar

·       Alarm

·       Backlight

True the watch has all these functions but its still keeps its analog look but with a small digital window right above the 6 o’clock marker and a smaller one at the 12 o’clock marker. Since we are talking about the dial, I went with the almost pastel navy-blue dial, that just suits the watch way more than its black variant. With a lume applied markers and hands to compliment the backlight of the subdial digital screens making visibility in the dark even more. The rotating 120 click bezel with 5-minute increment markers on it.  Every function on the watch is controlled by the crown with a twist counter clockwise or clockwise you can cycle though the functions, and pushing the crown down starts the minute repeater function. The only issue I had with my watch purchase was that it came on the Breitling rubber strap that was way too big.

So being the person I am I opened my drawer, found the box of straps I had, rummaged around and found a couple of 22mm straps that I knew would look good on the watch. I found two canvas straps in 22m, a grey and a light blue denim-ish color I ordered from Ritche on. I would change between them whenever I got bored. But I knew a rubber strap would complete the look of this watch, and the chance to find the perfect one would soon come. The chance came when I was invited to attend a meet and great with Kenneth Kuan at Time Gallery here in Kuwait. I got to see the CTS straps they had, and it immediately clicked, I finally found the rubber strap I’ve been looking for. I purchased the navy-blue CTS strap with the titanium buckle to match the case.

I love this watch, seriously do, it works with most of my outfits and is always in my watch rotation, because I know it’s a watch I don’t really have to worry about. Whenever I am travelling this watch is either with me or is one of the watches I leave behind because I cant carry that many watches, I mean I’ve had this watch in different contents and different time zones and in different environments and still enjoyed having it on my wrist.
